Making a good breakfast in a hurry can be a challenge. This is the answer. This is a great well balanced start to the day especially as it is very, very quick. This will keep your engines running until lunch time.
This smoothie contains protein: hemp and yoghurt, carbohydrates: hemp, yoghurt and the fruit plus essential fatty acids – the hemp again. It also has a low glycaemic load (impact on your blood sugar).
Use seasonal fruit; this increases the nutritional hit as it should be very fresh, especially if local. The blackcurrants in this were very local, around 200 yards away! No air miles.
Prep time: Washing the fruit and a whizz in the blender – 3 -5 minutes.

- 100 gms of Berries. One type or an assortment (we used blackcurrant).
- 200 ml plain probiotic yoghurt or kefir
- 1 dessertspoon Hemp protein powder
- Water (if necessary)
Method
- Blend the yoghurt, hemp protein powder and berries, check the consistency.
- Add a little water if you prefer.
