Seeds contain phytonutrients that are understood to have significant health benefits. They also provide essential fatty acids that body can’t make and must obtain through food. Plus they are a great source of vegan protein.

Bananas whilst giving minerals and energy they can have a negative effect on blood sugar, especially in those who have weight issues. However combining with the seeds, significantly reduces this, making this a great breakfast combo.

Berries; strawberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries are a rich source of antioxidants. They are also a low glycaemic fruit which means they are great at any time of day. Berries are also a valuable part of your daily intake, especially in season.

Prep time: Soaking overnight (if you can, but not essential) and them blending time – minutes!
Cook time: Absolutely none.
Ingredients
Serves 2 generously!

  • 200 gms of Berries. One type or an assortment. (we used blackberries).
  • 50 gms mixed seeds. We used a packet of mixed selection of: Pumpkin, sesame, linseeds and sunflower. Soak overnight if you have time.
  • 1 Large Banana
  • 1 Tablespoon of a milk (almond, goats, sheep’s, cows or seed)
Method

  1. Rinse the seeds and put them in a blender with the banana and milk.
  2. Blend until very smooth.
  3. Serve immediately either under or over the berries.

Note: The cream will go brown if not served straight away.
