Hi, I’m Dianne Mower; I am passionate about making healthy eating accessible and doable – for everyone. My knowledge of nutrition, love of fresh food and the importance to long term health prompted me to create the Healthy Eating Organisation.
My interest in the food and health connection took me into the nutrition arena over 10 years ago. I have experience as a therapist, guest lecturer and have been published in a leading peer reviewed journal.
After obtaining a degree in nutrition, working closely with people and their diet, I began to realise that most knew little about what really constitutes healthy food choices. This is not surprising.
Discussions around healthy food usually involves evaluating it by calories, fat content and breaking it down into individual components, such as vitamins and minerals. It seemed to me, most people are put off by the healthy eating message because they feel they need to be both a mathematician and a chemist to understand what is actually good for them. Love of food didn’t seem to have a place.
And that’s why I started healthy eating organisation. I want to connect people to the message that the real health value of food comes from eating a wide variety and in its most natural form. To me this means doing as little as possible to it thus preserving the flavour and the nutrients. This is why you will find that the recipes on this site predominantly include fresh nature made foods.
My own interest in unusual, bespoke and sometimes cottage industry culinary products, ensures these are also included.
As I am not a chef, all the recipes are very doable and definitely not difficult. Whilst I can’t compete with a microwave (which I don’t own) most recipes can also be made in less than the time it takes to tear the wrapping from ready made foods and heat in the oven.
My aim is to bring you best of the best so that HEO will be the ultimate resource for Healthy Eating.
